Groth, Dale H.
Dale H. Groth, 82, of Olin, died Friday, May 11, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Olin. Burial will be held at a later date.
Dale H. Groth was born May 16, 1929, in Olin, Iowa, to Alfred and Dora (Benichek) Groth. He attended school in Olin, graduating in 1947. He married Esther Reyelts on Feb. 6, 1948, in Boyden, Iowa.
Dale farmed all his life. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was an avid Cubs fan. He enjoyed playing cards, many years of bowling, and planning family get-togethers, welcoming all.
Surviving are his wife, Esther Groth of Olin, five children, Sandra (Ralph) Andresen of Olin, Becky (Daniel) McAtee of Olin, Pamela (Brian) Woods of Anamosa, Brian (Dee) Groth of Olin and Cheryl (Brent) Chambers of Bellevue; 13 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Carol (Ray) Kennedy of Walcott; a brother, Melvin Groth of Belton, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Leola Pegorick and Viola Houstman.
