Rose Edna Joyal, 97, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Newhall, died April 15, 2014, at Heritage Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids. Private family graveside services will be held at St. Patrick and St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.
Rose Edna Goselin was born Aug. 17, 1916, to DaMase and Eugenie (Bisson) Gosselin, in LaBroquerie, Manitoba, Canada. She was united in marriage to Joseph A. Joyal on June 29, 1940, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Joseph preceded her in death on March 9, 1984.
Rose was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Newhall. In her leisure she enjoyed dancing.
She is survived by her son, Joe Joyal Jr. of Marion; her daughters, Rose Marie (James) Monagan of Cedar Rapids, Lorraine Joyal of New Brighten, Minn., and Judith (David) Kruger of Davie, Fla.; and her eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by her two daughters, Joanne Nelson and Elaine Metzger; two sisters and seven brothers.
