Phillips, Bernice M.
Bernice M. Phillips, 91, of Clarence, died April 17, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Memorial services: 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, by Pastor Lynn Butterbrodt. Burial will be at a later date in Clarence Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Born March 21, 1921, in Allison, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Kammeyer) Roelfs, she married Lloyd Phillips in 1941 in Waverly. He died in 1986.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, a die-hard Republican, and she loved her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Kirby (Gwendy) of Clarence and Steve (Mary) of Las Cruces, N.M.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Pauline) Roelf of Allison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; four sisters; two brothers; and a son, Glenn.
