Cox, Maryann Harris
Maryann Harris Cox, 77, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at First United Methodist Church in Anamosa. Pastor Laurie Riley will officiate at the service. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Surviving are her husband, Raymond; two sons, David (Jeryl) Cox of Cedar Rapids and Robert Cox of Anamosa; a granddaughter, Cameron Cox of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Jack Scanlon of Maquoketa and Michael (Joann) Scanlon of Mount Vernon; a son-in-law, Lee Timm; and her faithful dog, Sammy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Inez Scanlon; and daughter, Kathleen Cox Timm.
Maryann Harris Cox was born Aug. 8, 1936, in Washington Township, Harrison County, Iowa, the daughter of J. Russell and Grace Harris Scanlon. She was a 1954 graduate of Anamosa High School. On June 29, 1957, Maryann and Raymond Cox were united in marriage. Maryann worked for Northwestern Bell as an operator and the Anamosa Community school district as a teacher's aide and librarian.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Anamosa, TTT Club, Anamosa Library Board, Anamosa Gardening Club, Ophelia's Club and Book Club. She enjoyed cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes, collecting Scottish Terriers, a good book, feeding and watching birds, and her dog Sammy.
Maryann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
