Ament, Donald C.
Donald C. Ament, 61, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2010. Memorial services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. A visitation will be held at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service.
Donnie is survived by his son, Brad (Lesa) Ament; grandchildren, Drew and Addison; and mother, Mary Ament, all of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Nick (Elyse) Ament of Central City, Sandie (John) Drew of Anaheim Hills, Calif., and Bonnie (Larry) Calvert of Fort Dodge; many nieces and nephews; and Brad's mother, Bev Ament of Cedar Rapids.
His father, Donald L. preceded him in death.
Donnie was born in Cedar Rapids, the son of Donald LeRoy and Mary Elizabeth (Schinker) Ament. He worked at Harnischfeger for many years and most recently ran his own siding company. Donnie will be remembered as a kind, gentle man and his friends would say he was the nicest guy you could ever meet. His first love was his son and family. He loved outings with his grandson, Drew and his black lab, Charlie, and enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends and family and following the Hawkeyes. He will be greatly missed.
