Peggy Palma, 64, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, after a short battle with metastatic ocular melanoma. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 16, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories from 2 to 4 p.m. Service will be 11 a.m.
Monday, Feb. 17, at the Chapel of Memories, with a private family burial before the service.
Peg was born Nov. 10, 1949, to Elvin and Alice (Murphy) Danielsen in
Cedar Falls, Iowa. After graduating from Reinbeck High School in 1968, Peg
attended the Patricia
Stevens School in Omaha, Neb., where she graduated in 1970.
Peg married Dick Palma on July 20, 1985, in Marion, Iowa. Peg worked as a software librarian for Rockwell Collins for over 30 years. For the last three years Peg served on the board of directors of Critter Crusaders, where she dedicated herself to helping homeless, sick and abused animals in the community.
Peg was known for her sense of style, her honesty, generosity, love of family and animals. Her creative flair was extraordinary as was her love for all things Bling.
Peg is survived by her husband, Dick of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Darla (Jay) Iverson of Ankeny and Dawn Palma of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan and Cassidy Long, all of Ankeny, and Jake Meyers of Cedar Rapids; one
brother, Doug (Jill) Danielsen of Cedar Falls; nephews, Jared (Shantel) Danielsen and Zachary (Megan) Danielsen; great-nieces and great-nephews, Madisen, Dylan, Cameron, Brooklyn, Sloane and Brier Danielsen; her beloved puppy dog, Bear; and many friends at Critter Crusaders, including her special friends, Jan Erceg, Michelle Wood and DeAnn Brannaman, also affectionately known as Team Peg.
Peg was preceded in death by her parents.
