Debban, Donna Fiser
Donna Fiser Debban, 75, of Osage, formerly of Waterloo, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, surrounded by her family. Funeral services for Donna Debban will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday.
Donna Ilene Fiser Debban was born Feb. 2, 1936, at Charles City, the daughter of Ralph and Margaret (Wilcox) Fiser. Donna attended school at Charles City and later received her GED. On Jan. 4, 1954, she married Oscar Debban Jr. at Mason City, moving to Waterloo shortly thereafter. Donna was employed at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home from October 1966 until her retirement on Feb. 2, 1996. She was a CNA and med aide, caring passionately and lovingly for her residents. Donna also served as a union steward and was a member of the Lutheran Home softball team.
She thoroughly enjoyed life and found great joy in playing cards, gardening, fishing, writing poems, watching and attending professional ice skating and karaoke. Her greatest joy, however, was being a grandma to her grandchildren and sharing her life with them as they grew. Donna will be remembered as a very kind, generous and giving person.
Living family members include two daughters, Vickie Holm of Greene and Tina (Jen) Cira-Debban of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister; two sisters-in-law; and two loving dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on Dec. 17, 1993; eight siblings; and a son-in-law, Dale Holm.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Donna by directing memorials in her name to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Activities Department.
The Hauser Funeral Home, (641) 228-2323, in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.
