Get real about war, bringing soldiers home
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Can the government get any more negligent in following our returning soldiers? The Pentagon hasn't done its job. A bureaucratic mess that can't make sure the soldiers aren't foreclosed on as their families struggle.
Just what the people Washington praises to the skies need. Pounding of the chest, choked voices and all the words of praise we can give them ring hollow when they return after multiple deployments to combat.
This is mortal danger, not just “in harm's way.” A child puts itself in harm's way. Get a thesaurus, Washington and news anchors. The repetition of phrases and catchwords shows an unoriginal mind and is tooth-grinding boring. Speak the language of war as in World War II like President Franklin Roosevelt did. An in-it-to-win-it attitude.
In one day, Congress could pass the money necessary to put these invaluable people back in their houses, help them with financial advice, turn their military skills into civilian jobs, help the amputees get the best and help the blind get a dog - whatever they need.
Many soldiers are honored and helped in their communities. That's great. But what about those not so fortunate?
