Alberhasky, Alois 'Allie'
Alois “Allie” Alberhasky, 87, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, surrounded by family. Allie's family welcomes friends to a reception to celebrate her life on Friday, Dec. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Kirkwood Room, 513 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City. Family services and burial have been held.
Allie was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Cascade, the daughter of James “Jasper” and Veronica Strang O'Shea. Allie was a graduate of Cascade High School. On Sept. 17, 1955, Allie married Joseph Alberhasky in Iowa City.
Allie was an x-ray technician at Mercy Hospital for many years and was the owner of Holiday Lodge in North Liberty.
Allie loved life and cherished the great times spent with family and friends. She liked to travel and enjoyed Hawkeye sports, especially football, water aerobics and golf.
Allie will be missed, but her spirit lives on.
Allie is survived by her two children, Dr. Rodney (Beatriz) Alberhasky of Iowa City and JoEllen Alberhasky (StevenOlson) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Max, Grayson, Sebastian, Nicholas and Paige; two brothers, Melvin “Fuss” O'Shea and Robert O'Shea; and special friend, Marge Ziegler.
Allie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Jim and Lloyd.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice.
