Risdal, Milford
Milford J. Risdal, 88, of Marion, died at the Willow Gardens Care Center on Thursday Dec. 17, 2009 after a long illness. Services at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion. Rev. Greg Williamson will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday (today).
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Sharon (Leon) Jagim of Maple Grove, Minn. and Marilyn (Dennis) Dean of Urbandale; and a sister, Edna Stein of Newhall. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Julie Lake, Michael (Tracy) Jagim, Amanda (Scott) Damstetter, Kevin (Alanna) Dean and Jessica Dean; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and four sisters.
Milford was born on July 3, 1921 in Newhall, the son of Daniel and Lena Dyrland Risdal. He married Patricia A. Dorsey on June 26, 1947 in Atkins. Milford farmed in Benton County and also worked for the Benton Community School District, retired from there in 1983 after 27 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a volunteer firefighter for the Newhall Fire Dept. and proudly served in the Army in World War II. Memorial donations may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Milford's name.
