Hicok, Ronald R.
Ronald R. Hicok, 63, of Springville, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Marion, by the Rev. Perry Fruhling. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Becky; two children, Tami (Dan) Oliphant and Shane Hicok; four grandchildren, Russell Dean, Taylor, Catelyne and Abagail; and siblings, Donald (Nancy) Hicok, Dawn Weber, Dana (Barb) Boomgarden and Jace (Catherine) Hicok.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Scott Weber; stepfather, Oliver Boomgarden; and his many canine companions.
Ron was born Aug. 31, 1948, in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Robert Hicok and Lorene (Miller) Boomgarden. On Jan. 18, 1969, he was united in marriage to Rebecca R. Avenson. Ron was a tire salesperson for many years. He worked at Marion Tire, Brad Ragan, Jones Co. Tire and most recently, Cedar Rapids Tire. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Marion.
