Erwin, George F.
George F. Erwin, CLU, 69, passed away suddenly at his residence in Columbus, Ohio Friday, June 1, 2012.
George was born in Lawton, Okla. After growing up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he attended Iowa State University where he became a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He graduated in 1965 and served four years as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He moved to Columbus in 1970 and began his career working in insurance and pensions.
George liked playing bridge and working in the yard, but his greatest joy was being with his children and grandchildren. He was a grandpa extraordinaire.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Eileen; children, Elizabeth (Patrick Kasson), George (Meagan), Jonathan; sister, Kathy Penningroth; and grandchildren, Lillian and Annabelle Kasson, and Madeline, George and Oliver Erwin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ann; and brother, Jeff.
The family will receive friends at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, OH 43221, Wednesday, June 6, 2012 from noon until time of the service at 1 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
