Davis, Donald 'Donnie' Robert

Donald “Donnie” Robert Davis, 61, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, in his home. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with the Rev. Dr. W. Bramwell Harnish presiding. Inurnment will be held in Czech National Cemetery.

Donnie was born Nov. 1, 1950, in Independence, the son of Don and Betty Lou (Bandy) Davis. He married Tami Rompot on Sept. 16, 1989, in Sokol Hall. Don was a trucking dispatcher for years. He also worked at the Chrome Horse and Saloon.

He enjoyed music, sports, especially the Cubs, Hawkeyes, Yankees, Raiders and the Bears, Rolling Rock, his cats, as well as friends and his family.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Tami; his dad, Don and wife Helen of Iowa City; a sister, Louann Kielty of Waterloo; a brother, Jamie Puhl of Waterloo; stepdad, Jim Puhl of Waterloo; his mother- and father-in-law, Sandy and Don Rompot; and his beloved cats, Dexter, Wrigley and Charlie Watts.

He was preceded in death by mother, Betty Lou; and his grandparents, Effie and Marvin Bandy.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
