Dohnalek, Michael David
Michael David Dohnalek, 56, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at his home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 5, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Visitation will be one hour before services. A private family burial will be in Anderson Cemetery, near Swisher.
Mike was born March 24, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Dave and Barbara (Bradford) Dohnalek. Mike graduated from Prairie High School in 1975. While in high school, he was involved in many sports including basketball and track. He continued his education and sports career at Wartburg College, where he received his Bachelor's Degree. Mike worked for many years in the insurance business and later sold for WMT, KHAK and WHO-TV in Des Moines. Mike moved to Florida to pursue his sales career until moving back to Cedar Rapids six years ago. Mike started his own men's clothing business in Marion. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, University of Iowa sports, boating and the time spent with his family, especially the nieces and nephews.
Mike is survived by his parents, Dave and Barbara Dohnalek of Swisher; a sister, Cindy (David) Chase of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Mark (Patricia) Dohnalek of Lees Summit, Mo.; his nieces, Lauren and Erin; nephew, David; aunts, Carol (Ed) Gates of Papillion, Neb. and Sharon (Warren) Eulgen of Milwaukee, Wis.; and uncle, Gary (Rosalyn) Bradford of Lake Lure, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and an uncle, Tom Bradford.
