Menary, Helen Louise
Helen Louise Menary, 78, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Marengo Memorial Hospital, Marengo.
Helen was born June 28, 1935, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Roscoe and Mary (Handorf) Armstrong. She graduated from Benson High School in Benson, Ariz., and received her nursing certificate from Drury College of Nursing in Springfield, Mo. Helen married Robert N. Menary on June 17, 1956, in Hansell, Iowa. After their marriage, they lived on a farm near Williamsburg and she worked as a nurse for Dr. Miller before her boys were born.
Helen was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Williamsburg, where she taught Sunday school, helped with the “monkey stuffers,” sang in the church choir and was active in UMW. She enjoyed fishing with Bob and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of Williamsburg; three sons, Jeff (Renee) Menary of Montezuma, Greg (Julie) Menary of Carlisle and Dan (Janet) Menary of Waukesha, Wis.; five grandchildren, Jenny (Tom) Hartshorn, Ben (Sarah) Menary, Nick Menary, Jessica Menary and Colin Hazelton; and a great-grandson, Baylor.
She was preceded by her parents and a brother, Robert Armstrong.
There will be no services at this time.
A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg.
Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service is caring for her services.
