Loren L. Salow, 80, of Earlville, died Friday, July 22, 2016. Visitation will be Monday, July 25, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, with a 7 p.m. Scripture service. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Earlville. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Earlville.
Survivors include his children, Steve (Lori) Salow of Earlville, Alan (Penny) Salow of Delhi, Wayne Salow of Earlville, Todd (Vicky) Salow of Washington, Iowa, and Kent (Susie) Salow of Earlville; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, David (Rosie) Salow, Donald (Irene) Salow, Clarence "Hap" (Phyllis) Salow, Gary Salow and Richard (Patricia) Salow; sisters-in-law, Betty Salow and Mona Salow; and a special friend, Connie McGraw.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene; twin sons, Lyle and Kyle; a sister and brother-in-law, Robert (Mariam) Young; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Walt (Amber) Salow, Ray Salow Jr., Harold Salow and Bill (Audrey) Salow; and an infant brother, Clyde Salow.
Loren was born Feb. 2, 1936, in Earlville, the son of Raymond and Nellie (Hunt) Salow. He graduated from Earlville High School in 1953. Loren married Irene Heims on July 23, 1958, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Earlville. Loren was employed by John Deere Dubuque Works for 33 years.
He was a Boy Scout leader, a member of St. Joseph's Choir, Earlville Community Club and the Earlville Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and watching Hawkeye football and basketball games.
Loren's greatest joy was his children and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, monetary memorials may be directed to Maquoketa Valley Dollars for Scholars.
