18-year-old struck, killed on I-80 in Johnson County

JOHNSON COUNTY - Police have released the name of a victim who was killed in a hit and run on Interstate 80 early Sunday morning.
According to an Iowa State Patrol accident report, 18-year-old Maxwell Wallace, of South Amana, was walking in the westbound lane of I-80 just east of Tiffin when he was struck by an unknown vehicle at 12:03 a.m. Maxwell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the vehicle likely sustained damage to its under carriage and anyone with information should contact state patrol at 319-396-4414.
The westbound lane of I-80 was closed for around two hours Sunday morning while crews cleaned up the scene. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
