Here's some stuff I got from the BCS/USC thing

USC made the news yesterday. The school is still climbing out of the wreckage that was the complete lack of NCAA governance by coach Pete Carroll and USC.
The BCS vacated the Trojans' 2004 national championship.
Here's some of the stuff I received in the e-mail yesterday on this subject, from the BCS and the American Football Coaches Association:
BCS Vacates USC 04_05 Championship
Statement from Grant Teaff, executive director, American Football Coaches Association, regarding the Bowl Championship Series' decision to vacate the 2004 BCS national championship won by the University of Southern California:
“Since 1998, when the Bowl Championship Series was formed, the American Football Coaches Association Coaches' Trophy has been awarded to the winner of the BCS championship.
“The Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) head coaches each year since then have agreed that the winner of the championship game will automatically be ranked No. 1 in the final AFCA/USA Today Top 25 Coaches' Poll following postseason bowl games, with the winner receiving the Coaches' Trophy.
“Because of the ruling by the BCS to vacate USC's 2004 BCS championship, no other team will be considered to receive the trophy.”

And . . . crickets. USC had the moment. It's something that can never be taken away. The "vacated" victories and championships is rotted-log hollow. USC's title in 2004 got 100-point headlines in newspapers across the country. This is a brief.
The NCAA needs to pull the death penalty out of steerage and reclaim its honor. You want a deterrent or do you want a slap on the wrist?
