3-and-out: Iowa State at TCU
Oct. 5, 2012 9:22 am
Who's No. 1: Who doesn't like a good quarterback battle? Or just a quarterback battle? ISU's in the midst of one, but don't be surprised if sometimes electric, often erratic Steele Jantz holds on to the top spot, at least early. If he struggles again, expect backup Jared Barnett to shuffle in and add some zone-read spice to the game.
2. TCU's pass rush. Freshman Devonte Fields is the ultimate speed rusher at 6-foot-4, 240 pounds. What he lacks in size shows up on the stat sheet. He has 8.5 tackles for loss and five sacks. He's also forced a fumble. “He's got great quick twitch,” ISU offensive coordinator Courtney Messingham said. “He plays with great quickness.”
3. Edwin Arceo. ISU coach Paul Rhoads said one more week like last one - where Arceo missed a 49-yard field goal and a PAT - will allow him to “entertain” the possibility of burning freshman Cole Netten's red-shirt.
