Gessner, Phyllis L.
Phyllis L. Gessner, 78, a resident of Heritage Nursing and Rehab, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center after a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was born March 15, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of R.D. and Gertrude Merton Brown. She married Joseph A. Gessner on Oct. 7, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nev. He died in 2011.
Phyllis was an R.N. and worked for several years at Crestview Acres.
She was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where memorial donations may be given in her name.
