Carol Trueg is leaving her position as president of Iowa City Regina Catholic Education Center at the end of this school year.
Trueg, in an email to parents Friday afternoon, said she has accepted the position of chief administrator of Holy Family Catholic Schools in Dubuque and will start July 1.
“My decision to leave Regina was a difficult one, but the fact that I will be able to be closer to my 90-year-old mother ultimately was the deciding factor,” she said.
Trueg did not immediately return messages seeking comment.
Trueg became Regina's first president when she started at the K-12 Catholic school in 2008. She said in her email that the school board was committed to continuing to have a president.
“I have been blessed to have spent three years with you,” she wrote. “Please be assured of my continued prayers for all of you.”
Trueg is a former associate principal at Cedar Rapids Xavier.
