We are all proud of the fact that Bill Northey, Iowa's former agriculture secretary, has been confirmed as the under secretary of agriculture for farm and foreign agricultural services at the USDA. I had the honor so serve on Bill's strategic advisory board for over six years. That experience gave me insight into his vital state role, for Iowa agriculture and for our state economy.
Ray Gaesser will continue Bill's record and relationships. A fulltime farmer growing corn, soybeans and rye, Ray's also a leader and mentor. He brings strategies, programs, partnerships and best practices that ensure strong healthy farms create strong and healthy communities. His goal is to build a state with responsible, profitable agriculture … one which grows trade relationships, opens markets and creates more ag-related jobs, especially related to increasing conservations efforts.
Ray's chaired the state, national and international soybean associations and participated in and often led over 50 trade missions for Iowa. Ray also co-chaired the Conservation Infrastructure Initiative, to stimulate economic development through Iowa's Nutrient Reduction Strategy. He is an ardent conservationist and a 30-year pioneer of soil health, water quality and energy conservation. Ray walks the talk and teaches others on critical issues.
Vote Ray Gaesser for Iowa Secretary of Agriculture on June 5 in the Republican Primary.
