The Weiner and Gross families have been close since we met at the Iowa City Community Theatre in the early 1970's. Janice Weiner was a teenager at that time who watched over our son so we could build and paint scenery.
We watched Janice through her years as a student, here and abroad. Soon after, she entered the foreign service as a diplomat speaking six languages. Her career progressed through East Berlin and the fall of the wall to the consul general in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Janice has developed the skills to work with people of different opinions, backgrounds and agendas. For 26 years she has honed the skills to be effective in the Iowa Senate by working with, not against, opposing legislators. She can develop relationships to produce legislation that best serves all people of Iowa - and it will be crafted with the skills from her law school training.
As a Boy Scout leader of 30 plus years, I know the values of Scouting and the tests that produce Eagle Scouts. If the program had admitted girls then, I know Janice would have become an Eagle Scout. I can examine the 12 Scout Laws and pass her on every one, Trustworthy through Reverent, a character test I value highly.
We ask everyone to support Janice Weiner in Senate District 37 so we'll all benefit from her experience.
