McCormick, Bobbie 'Bob' D.
Bobbie “Bob” D. McCormick, 85, of Marion, died of cancer Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. Mike Morgan. The family will greet friends from 1 to
5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where Masonic Service begins at 1 p.m. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Military honors provided by Marion American Legion Post #298.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Jean; daughter, Sally (Jeffrey) Hill; sister, Fannie Mae Ernst; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Hubert McCormick; and sister, Margarete Gallup.
Bob was born May 30, 1924, in rural Benton County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Ida (Peterson) McCormick. He married Lola Jean Rawlins on July 16, 1955, at the First United Methodist Church in Marion. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the European Theatre during World War II. He worked for Northwestern Bell for 35 years. Bob was a member of the Marion American Legion Post #298, VFW, and Marion Masonic Lodge #6. He was a master gardener, enjoyed being a Shrine Clown, and helping his neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bob's name.
