Thiessen, Mabel K.
Mabel K. Thiessen, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died March 2, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. There will be a service to celebrate Mabel's life at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with the Rev. William Harnish officiating. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home Monday, March 5, 2012 from 3 to 6 p.m.
Survivors include two daughters, Ralta Rae Whitehead of Tonto Basin, Ariz. and Sally Ann (Thomas) Stovie of Alburnett; son, Darnell Dean Thiessen of Palm Dessert, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Willard.
Mabel K. Thiessen was born February 29, 1920 in Elberon, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis and Sophia (Rayman) Musel. She married Willard W. Thiessen March 21, 1940 in Clinton, Iowa. Mabel spent many years as a clerk at May's Drug in Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in honor of Mabel to Mercy Hospice.
