Bain, Charles E.
Charles E. Bain, 84, of 1121 O Ave. NW, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at his home. Celebration of Life services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Twin Pines Baptist Church, with Pastor Ken Koske officiating. Entombment, with military honors: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Surviving, to honor his memory, are his wife of 36 years, Mary; their children, Ginger (William) Whidden and Donna Jean (Don) Ellis, both of Port Charlotte, Fla., Steven (Marina) Bain of Tucson, Ariz., and Fletcher (Amber) Bain of Marshfield, Wis.; two sisters, Irene Hix of Memphis, Tenn., and Evelyn Chapman of Trenton, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nephews, Juan, Arthur and Donald Bain; and a niece, Sondra Jowers, all of Lexington, Tenn.; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur; and a sister, Helen.
Charles was born July 27, 1925, in Camden, Tenn., to Dr. Charles and Pauline Hodge Bain. He married Mary K. Baker on March 7, 1974, in Cedar Rapids. He was employed as a machinist at Kwik-Way Manufacturing for 15 years, retiring in 1989. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of Twin Pines Baptist Church and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
