Gas prices continue to inch up, and local consumers aren't happy about it.
Gas goers are seeing prices, per gallon, break $3.60 for premium unleaded, $3.50 for unleaded and $3.40 for ethanol at multiple Cedar Rapids gas stations.
The overall consensus by those filling up: the price is way too high.
Tom Miller, a Cedar Rapids commuter, said he always fills his tank up in Cedar Rapids because the prices seem to be just a bit lower here. Even with the slight discount, it's still just too high, he said.
“I think they are kind of getting up there to where people are really getting frustrated,” he said. “ I know I am -- it costs a lot of money to get to work and back and forth.”
Another consumer, Gordon Emmons, said he paid $33 to fill up today, and that price only got him half of a tank.
“It's draining my pocketbook,” he said. “Between that and groceries.”
Emmons' vehicle only takes premium unleaded gas, so Emmons doesn't have much of an option. He said he would prefer to see prices closer to $2.50.
“That's closer to reality,” he said.
