Kelley, Merle L. Sr.
Merle L. Kelley Sr., 69, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, went to be with Our Lord and Savior on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Mark Thomas. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wapello Cemetery, Wapello, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Kelley of Cedar Rapids; children, Michael (Jan) of Godley, Texas, Richard of Cedar Rapids and Pebble (Victor) of Cedar Rapids; son, Merle Jr. (Nadana) of North Liberty; brother, Willard Odle of Yakima, Wash.; six grandchildren, Kathy, Joshua, Natasha, Jaidyn, Sarah and Robin; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edmond Kelley and Robert Kelley; and two sisters, Donna Miller and Linda Edwards.
Merle was born Feb. 25, 1944, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Edmund and Viola (Matthes) Kelley. He married Judith Fite in Fort Worth, Texas. Merle retired from Iowa Specialties in January 2010, where he worked as a welder. He was a member of Central Assembly of God Church. Merle enjoyed fishing trips, hunting with his sons, quality time with his daughter and trips to Branson, Mo., with his wife whom he adored.
Merle was a wonderful person and was loved by all. We will always love you. Rest with the Lord.
