RUTH ACORD

Ruth A. (Rees) Acord, 94, of Marion, formerly of Anamosa, passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Per Ruth's wishes, there will not be a visitation or services.
Survivors include her son, Jim (Cindy) Lightfoot of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her second husband, Max Acord (who died in 1987); three brothers and two sisters.
Ruth was born April 5, 1920. She graduated from Anamosa High School and attended nurse's training at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Ruth was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having provided service as a nurse during World War II while stationed in India. She worked most of her life as a nurse, retiring in 1969. Ruth was a member of Cedar Valley Christian Church.
