IOWA CITY -- University of Iowa guard Jaime Printy is one of 35 collegiate players to accept an invitation to attend the 2011 USA Basketball Women's World University Games Team Trials, which will take place May 22-25 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Invitations to the trials were issued by the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Committee, chaired by Sue Donohoe, NCAA vice president for Division I women's basketball.
"I am extremely honored to accept an invitation to the team trials," Printy said. "This will be an incredible experience to compete against the best players in the country. I'm excited for the opportunity to represent the University of Iowa and the Big Ten at the tryouts."
Printy is one of 12 players on the trials roster that will be a junior next fall. Four athletes will sophomores, 17 will be seniors and two players will be fifth-year seniors.
Printy was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2010 and was a second team all-Big Ten selection in 2011. She became the youngest Hawkeye women's basketball player to earn All-America honors after being named honorable mention by the Associated Press as a sophomore. The former Linn-Mar prep also became the youngest player in school history to reach the 1,000 career point mark, accomplishing the feat as a sophomore.
Iowa Coach Lisa Bluder said, "This will be a great learning experience for Jaime. She will be competing for a roster spot against the top collegiate players in the country."
