Pottebaum, Jamie J.
Jamie J. Pottebaum, 38, of Dyersville, died Thursday, July 28, 2011, at his residence as the result of an accident. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where a parish Scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate.
Jamie was born Feb. 1, 1973, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Donald and Connie (Freiburger) Pottebaum. He graduated from Beckman High School with the class of 1991 and attended Kirkwood Community College. On Oct. 20, 2001, he married Angie Wessels at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville. Jamie was a creative artist who used his talents as the owner and operator of Distinctive Crete for 10 years.
Jamie enjoyed water skiing, golfing, hunting, fishing, camping with his family and generally being outdoors.
Jamie is survived by his wife, Angie; two children, Alex and Callie; his parents, Don (Jean) Pottebaum and Connie Pottebaum, both of Earlville; siblings, Rick Pottebaum of Earlville, Norm (Lisa) Pottebaum of Dyersville, Jesse (Sara) Pottebaum of Orlando, Fla., Marty Pottebaum (friend Shawna Burkle) of Earlville and Julie (Mike) Deutmeyer of Luxemburg; his mother-in-law, Cheryl Wessels of Dyersville; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jim (Mary) Wessels of Dyersville, Doug Wessels of Phoenixville, Pa., Matt (Laura) Wessels of Milwaukee, Wis., and Tracie Wessels (fiance Joel Urmanski) of Sheboygan, Wis.; and 11 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Helen Freiburger and Emil and Calista Pottebaum; and his father-in-law, Richard “Breeze” Wessels.
