Blosser, James 'Jim'
James “Jim” Blosser, 65, of Washington, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services have been set for 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, Mount Pleasant, with Pastor Jerry Van Hooser officiating. Burial will be before the service at 8:30 a.m. Friday at English River Church of the Brethren Cemetery in South English. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with the family present from 4 to 7 p.m.
James William Blosser was born Feb. 25, 1944, in South English, Iowa, the son of Oren D. and Emily Kathryn (Slaubaugh) Blosser. He graduated from South English High School and was united in marriage to Janice Marie Miller on July 1, 1966. Janice preceded Jim in death on Jan. 23, 1998. Jim and Mary Mast Bender were united in marriage on July 19, 2003, at English River Church of the Brethren, South English. He farmed from 1966 to 1986 and was then employed at Amana Refrigeration for 18 years. Jim later drove school bus for the Washington school district for four years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant and enjoyed spending time with his family, church, gardening, farming and tractors.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Washington; four children and spouses, Jeffrey (Jill) Blosser of West Des Moines, Jane (Jake) Sanders of South English, Julie (Patrick) Zuber of Williamsburg and Joani (Jason) Westhoff of South English; 12 grandchildren; and one brother and spouse, John David (Janice) Blosser of Pace, Fla.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents; wife, Janice; and one brother, Marcus Blosser.
Memorial donations may be given to Calvary Baptist Church or Hospice of Washington County.
