Evidence solid in case of neglected dogs

I am responding to the Sunday letter from the Iowa Pet Breeders Association. The writer said local authorities raided Thunder Ridge Kennel on an unfounded “tip.” Search warrants are issued based on evidence, not tips. The Jones County Sheriff's Office was given 50 pages of documentation from three veterinarians citing neglect and illness or injury in 19 dogs purchased from the kennel owner at an auction. No false accusations. Just solid evidence.
The Gazette, KCRG-TV9, KGAN and KWWL all received copies of the documents that were used as the basis for the warrant. This is an important part of the story. Yet I have not seen any media members share this information with the public.
The letter said the 17 dogs purchased by rescue groups did not need saving. Far from true. These dogs were taken to veterinarians who documented their illnesses and injuries. A Corgi with giardia, coccidia and feet stained by urine; an underweight Westie with cuts and sores on all four feet; an underweight Westie with an ear infection; a Boston terrier with an eye bulging out of the socket that had to be removed. These are but a few examples.
People are waiting for the Jones County Attorney's Office to do the right thing. There is plenty of documentation. It is time for accountability.
