Iowa basketball to turn back the clock 25 years
Iowa will wear throwback uniforms on Feb. 4 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of its 1986-87 team.
That team won its first 18 games, won 30 games overall and was ranked No. 1 for multiple weeks that season. It posted thrilling overtime victories over Illinois and Oklahoma and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight, where it lost to UNLV 84-81.
Eight different members of that team advanced to the NBA. Most are expected to return for the Feb. 4 game, including B.J. Armstrong, Ed Horton, Kevin Gamble, Roy Marble, Jeff Moe, Gerry Wright and others. Former Coach Tom Davis also is expected to attend.
Iowa plays host to Penn State at 2 p.m. Feb. 4.
