Ellison, Dixie Lee
Dixie Lee Ellison, 76, of Martelle, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. The Rev. John Keizer will officiate at the service. Interment will be at Norwich Cemetery in Martelle, where she will lie with her husband, parents, and grandparents. Friends may call starting at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Joan Weber of Solon, Mrs. Vivian Dauber of Glendale, Calif., and Constance Young of Edmond, Okla.; nieces, Leigh Mendias, Karen Gonzales, Beth Kopel and Jeri Glatter; and two nephews, J. R. Dauber and Jason Weber.
Dixie Lee was born March 16, 1935, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Eva (Fetters) Bobst. She graduated from Martelle High School with the class of 1953. On Sept. 16, 1956, Dixie and Walter Dale Ellison were united in marriage at the Martelle United Methodist Church. Mr. Ellison preceded her in death on June 9, 2009. Upon completion of high school Dixie became a valued employee of the Martelle Farmers Co-op Elevator and many will remember her from her time there. After retiring from the elevator she was a full-time homemaker.
Mrs. Ellison was a member of the Martelle Methodist Church and belonged to a small Bible Study group associated with that church.
She will be missed.
