Frantz, Lillian M.
PALO - Lillian M. Frantz, 100, of Hiawatha, formerly of Palo, died Sept. 14, 2010, at Promise House, Hiawatha. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call after 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Chapel of Memories. Burial will take place at Palo Cemetery.
Surviving are her son, Charles E. Frantz of Palo; two grandchildren; brother, Bill Wiener of Minnesota; sister, Mabel Christiansen of West Bend; her caregiver and friend, Arlette Deines of Marion; and her adopted family, Arlo and Arlene Pelley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; brothers, Orville and Charlie; and sisters, Ruby, Ann and Engel.
Lillian was born Oct. 23, 1909, in Brookings County, S.D., the daughter of John and Minnie (Miller) Wiener. She was united in marriage to Charles M. Frantz on May 31, 1933, in Lancaster County, Neb. She was a graduate of Iowa State Teachers College and attended Coe College. She was a teacher at Palo Schools and later in the Cedar Rapids Community Schools.
She will be remembered for her vibrant and caring personality.
A memorial fund has been established.
