Timothy Reynolds was formally charged Tuesday with attempted murder and willful injury causing serious injury in Sunday night's shooting in southeast Cedar Rapids.
Reynolds, 17, of 55 Robins Rd., Hiawatha, was arrested shortly after Christopher Pearson was shot in the abdomen in the 1400 block of Fourth Avenue SE. Officers called to the scene about 8:30 p.m. Sunday tracked Reynolds to the nearby Rose Apartments building, 1407 Third Ave. SE.
Witnesses told police Reynolds and Pearson exchanged words before the shooting.
Pearson, 38, was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, where he remained in the intensive care unit Tuesday.
Reynolds, charged as an adult because he's within six months of his 18th birthday, is held at the county's juvenile detention center. Bail is set at $125,000, cash only.
