Porterfield, Lolita
Lolita Porterfield, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Living Center East. She is survived by a son, Roy of Cedar Rapids.
Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home, Jefferson, Iowa.
Lolita was born Jan. 18, 1920, in Jefferson. During World War II, she worked in defense industries, including Solar Aircraft in Des Moines and the U.S. Nuclear Reservation at Hanover, Wash. After the war, she returned to Jefferson and became one of the most notable piano teachers in Central Iowa. She then worked for the State of Iowa in Carroll and Des Moines and later retired to Cedar Rapids.
