Salrin, Mary H.
Mary H. Salrin, 60, of 1203 Daybreak Ridge, Tipton, died peacefully July 22, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial: Mount Sterling Catholic Cemetery, Mount Sterling, Ill. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, with a rosary at 3:45 p.m. and parish vigil at 7 p.m. Father David Hitch will officiate.
Survivors include her mother, Mary F. Scherer of Mount Calvary, Wis.; her husband, Tom; daughters, Jennifer (Steven Collier) Salrin of Pittsburgh, Pa., Melissa (Jamie Warren) Salrin of Urbana, Ill., and Suzanne (Brenton) Thomas of Blaine, Minn.; son, Christopher (Dayla) Salrin of Bloomington, Ill.; grandchildren, Lucy, Alistair, Christopher, Aidan, Julianne, Tyler and Andrew; sisters, Anne (Joe) Lotarski of Plainfield, lll., Regina (Tim) Rhodes of Concord, Ill., Elizabeth (Max) Povse of Cary, N.C., Joyce Scherer of Tipton and Rosalee (Jorge) Pang of Panama City, Panama; and brothers, Robert (Barbara) Scherer of Elyria, Ohio and Brother John Scherer of Mount Calvary, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her father; grandson, Eli Thomas; and four grandchildren who became angels before birth.
Born July 1, 1949, in Washington, Ill., the daughter of Ernest Herman and Mary Frances (Smelz) Scherer, Mary married Thomas Richard Salrin there on Feb. 12, 1972. She was a 1967 graduate of Washington (Ill.) High School, 1970 graduate of Quincy College and 1972 graduate of University of Illinois, where she obtained a master's degree in library science. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Guild and Library Friend of the University of Illinois.
A memorial has been established.
