Garringer, Patricia Anne
Patricia Anne Garringer was born July 18, 1952, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of James Benton “Doc” and Anne (Welsh) Garringer. Patty died Friday, May 17, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, after a sudden illness at the age of 60.
She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1972. She worked at Iowa County Care Facility, Hillside Estates for many years and most recently Highland Ridge Presbyterian Homes in Williamsburg. Patty was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg and the Red Hats. She enjoyed helping with the social activities and her special friendships in the Millersburg community. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her mother Anne of Williamsburg; three brothers, Kenny Garringer, Ray (Fonda) Garringer and Paul (Chris) Garringer, all of Williamsburg; two sisters, Mary (Don) Grimm of Williamsburg and Jan (Steve) Fick of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews, Mitch Fick of Grand Rapids, Mich., Rachel Fick of Kansas City, Mo., Bryson (Annie) Garringer of Marion, Lance Garringer of Savannah, Ga., Austin Hilligas of Cedar Rapids and Bree Garringer, Ashley (Brandon) Dietrich, Trenton Garringer and Anna Garringer, all of Williamsburg; a great-niece, Kara Dietrich of Williamsburg; and a special friend, Kay Allison of Millersburg.
She was preceded by her father.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg. Father Joseph Roost will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 3 p.m., at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
A memorial fund has been established for the Millersburg Betterment Committee.
