Poulsen, William 'Bill'
William “Bill” Poulsen, 82, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, following a brief stay at the Lutheran Homes in Muscatine. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty, with a memorial service being held at 7 p.m. Friday. Private family committal of Bill's cremains will be held in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Bill was born August 5, 1928, in Iowa City, the son of Henry and Margaret Eastman Poulsen. He grew up and attended schools in Iowa City. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946 and was stationed with the army occupation near Osaka, Japan. He received an honorable discharge in March 1948. On Oct. 9, 1949, he was united in marriage to Lotene Weinard in Iowa City, they moved to West Liberty in 1954, and to this union was born two sons, Steven and Dennis.
He retired from United Technologies Automotive in Iowa City in 1991. Bill enjoyed making knives, repairing sewing machines, and time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was a member of I.O.O.F Lodge in Iowa City; Mansell Phillips American Legion Post No. 509 and the United Methodist Church in West Liberty.
Survivors include his wife, Lotene of West Liberty. two sons, Steven (Chris) Poulsen and Dennis Poulsen, all of West Liberty; grandchildren, Amanda (Jesse) Shield and Riley Poulsen of West Liberty, Carl Poulsen and his fiancee, Angie Kauffman of Iowa City, Kyle (Melissa) Poulsen and Kent Poulsen and his friend, Jessica Sarver, all of Bettendorf; one great-grandson, Kane Shield of West Liberty; sister-in-law, Carmen Poulsen of Iowa City; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Steffensen; and brothers, Edward Poulsen and Paul Poulsen.
