Anne Garringer passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg at the age of 86, with her family by her side.
Anne was born Feb. 18, 1929, near Holbrook, Iowa, the daughter of Patrick and Mary (Mae) Bryson Welsh. She graduated from Williamsburg High School. Anne was united in marriage to James "Doc" Garringer on Jan. 24, 1948. After their marriage, the couple moved to a farm southwest of Williamsburg, where they raised their children and farmed until moving to Highland Ridge in 2005.
Anne enjoyed traveling, baking and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary and VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her five children, Kenneth Garringer and Mary (Don) Grimm, both of Williams-burg, Jan (Steve) Fick of Cedar Rapids, and Ray (Fonda) Garringer and Paul (Chris) Garringer, both of Williamsburg; nine grandchildren, Mitch Fick, Ashley Dietrich, Bryson Garringer, Rachel Vanourny, Trenton Garringer, Lance Garringer, Austin Hilligas, Anna Garringer and Bree Garringer; three great- grand-daughters, Kara, Mya and Ava; and a sister, Inez Welsh of Williamsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2009; a daughter, Patricia Garringer, in 2013; and four brothers, Paul, Leo, Earl and Eugene Welsh.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. There will be a rosary at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials are for St. Mary's Cemetery or Friends of Old St. Michael's in Holbrook.
