Hallberg, Anna 'Ann' Frances Dobrovsky Hynds
Formerly of Cedar Rapids, Anna “Ann” Frances Dobrovsky Hynds Hallberg died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg at the age of 98 years. Celebration of Life services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, at First Presbyterian Church, Williamsburg. Pastor Kip Murphy will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at Czech National Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Ann was born Oct. 28, 1913, in Phoenix, Ariz., the daughter of Frank and Anna (Pohorsky) Dobrovsky. She graduated from Grant High School and Paris Academy of Beauty. She received her cosmetology license in November 1934 and maintained it until 2006. She worked at a number of businesses, with her last being Pizazz. Ann was united in marriage to Darrell Jacob Hynds on June 13, 1934, in Cedar Rapids. To this union were born two children, William and Sharon. Darrell died in 1969. Ann married Paul Hallberg on Sept. 26, 1970, in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1985. She lived in Cedar Rapids most all of her life until moving to Highland Ridge in Williamsburg.
Ann was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and Bingo, traveling and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Bill and wife Sandra Hynds of Williamsburg; her daughter, Sharon and husband Sid Stueland of Brook Park, Minn.; a stepson, Paul and wife Karen Hallberg of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Timothy (Amy) Hynds, Robert Hynds, Randall Carroll, Lori Carroll and Lisa Carroll; three stepgrandchildren, Becky (Steve) Beck, Stacy (Scott) Bauler and Brian (Molly) Hallberg; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and three sisters, Martha Taylor, Lenore Hunter Carlson and Dorothy Fottral Fisher.
The family would like to thank Highland Ridge Care Center and Iowa City Hospice for their loving care and concern.
