Gazette boys’ basketball rankings: number ones remain same

CEDAR RAPIDS - Iowa City West, Waverly-Shell Rock, Iowa City Regina and Gladbrook-Reinbeck remain the top-ranked teams in their respective classes in the latest Gazette boys' basketball rankings.
Class 4A West (9-0) has a premier game Tuesday night against at home against Dubuque Wahlert (5-4), which is ranked third in Class 3A. Also playing Tuesday night are Pleasant Valley and North Scott, which are 4-5 in 4A.
Waverly is the number one team in 3A with a 9-0 record. Wahlert dropped behind MOC/Floyd Valley after a loss to Cedar Falls last week.
Williamsburg (8-1) is ranked sixth in 3A, entering the poll after an impressive 53-37 win last Friday night at Marion. The Raiders lead the Wamac Conference's West Division.
A buzzer-beating 3-pointer allowed Regina (8-0) to beat Benton Community last Saturday and stay at number one in 2A. Monticello (12-1) dropped from sixth to eighth after an overtime loss last week to Cascade, which is seventh.
Gladbrook-Reinbeck (9-0) remains atop the 1A poll. Meskwaki Settlement School (8-0) enters at 10th after a win last weekend over then-eighth-ranked Janesville.
