Jorg Nissen, 52, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 3, 2016. Celebration of Life: 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at the Swisher American Legion. A time of reflection will be held from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Please dress casual. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Jody; children, Kenzie and Travis Nissen, all of Cedar Rapids; parents, Leo (Donna) Nissen of Marion and Doris (Delmar) Thibadeau of Anamosa; siblings, Leon Nissen (Chris Chrzan) of Anamosa and Delmar (Jackie) Thibadeau Jr. of Texas; father- and mother-in-law, Larry and Sheilah Igou of Swisher; brother-in-law, Jeff (Ruthi) Rogers of Oskaloosa; sister-in-law, Sarah (Zach) Gorman of Swisher; brother-in-law, Jace Igou of Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews; his faithful dog, Sadie; and his two cats.
Jorg was born July 25, 1963, in Germany, the son of Leo Nissen and Doris Thibadeau. He married Jody Igou on Dec. 8, 1989, in Cedar Rapids. Jorg worked as a painter from 1985 up until his illness forced his retirement in 2013. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his Harley, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Swisher Trust & Savings Bank, 59 Rose Ave. SW, Swisher, IA 52338, in care of the Nissen family.
