Merridith, Estelle L.

Estelle L. Merridith, 103, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Briarwood Health Care Center in Iowa City.

Graveside services will begin Friday at 2 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be held Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Iowa City Hospice.

Estelle was born May 14, 1909, in Blairstown, Iowa, the daughter of Homer and Melissa (Howard) Potter. A young girl, Estelle's family moved to the Tiffin area.

Estelle married Mervin “Buster” Brown in 1929. Buster died in 1954. In 1956, she married Ralph “Doc” Lind. After Doc's death, Estelle married Bill Merridith in 1964. She worked at Pla Mor Lanes bowling alley in downtown Iowa City, Mercy Hospital's Dietary Department and New Process Laundry.

Estelle enjoyed playing cards and bowling and Kit Kat bars. Very simply, she enjoyed life and making those around her laugh!

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and four brothers and three sisters.
