Potter, Dolorose K. 'Dola'
Dolorose K. “Dola” Potter, 96, of Cascade, died surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade. Friends and relatives of Dola may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a wake service will be held at 4 p.m. and the Cascade American Legion Auxiliary and CDAs will have a rosary at 4:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at the funeral home. Services for Dola will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
Dola was born June 19, 1915, in Cascade, Iowa, daughter of Frank and Katherine (Streng) Kremer. She was a graduate of the former St. Mary's High School in Cascade. On Dec. 1, 1945, she was united in marriage to Willard Potter at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cascade.
Dola was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.
She was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, Cascade American Legion Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters of the America's - Our Blessed Mother Court 1926.
She is survived by three children, Pat (Maribeth) Potter of Cascade, Rob (Debbie) Potter of Raleigh, N.C., and Mary Kay (Gerald) Mangrich of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl (Marian) Kremer and Edward (Dorothy) Kremer; and one sister Mary Jane Clarke, all of Cascade.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willard Potter on July 8, 1975; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerome and Marjorie Kremer; and a brother-in-law, Pat Clarke.
