Cadwallader, Stanley M.
Stanley M. Cadwallader, 86, of Hiawatha, died at home Monday, May 16, 2011. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church by Pastors Dale Morrison, David Bissell and John Morrison. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors. A visitation will be held Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruthie; children, Deb (David) Christenson of Lansing, Mich., Jaclin (Guy) Ayers-Berry of Hiawatha, and Scott (Jane) Cadwallader and Leesa (Dale) Morrison, all of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Merlyn Jo Lockert of Cedar Rapids, and Marlene Hopf of San Antonio, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Stanley was born May 18, 1924, in Ottumwa, to E. Merle and Angela Cadwallader. He married Ruthie Nemecek in Cedar Rapids, on Aug. 7, 1949. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Stan owned and operated Metro Scale Systems, his passion for 39 years. Stan served on the Hiawatha City Council for over 16 years. He was a lifetime member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, holding many offices which he enjoyed. He was a faithful witness to his belief in God and shared his love of Christ with everyone he met.
