MARIE ELAINE HIGHTOWER
Marion
Marie Elaine Hightower, 57, of Marion, accepted God's hand Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at home, surrounded by her loved ones after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Her celebration of life will be on her birthday, Feb. 9, from noon to 7 p.m. at Kirkwood Estates Club House, 615 Miller Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are the love of her life, Bruce Loudenback; five daughters, Rose, Sindy, Jenni, Heather and Reba; her babies, Jersey, Jenny and Jaxon; grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, Jaise, Jasmine, Jaelynn, Jaryn and Asher; best friend, Vern Hall; faithful companions, Maggie and Charlie; brothers and sisters, Clarence and Mark (Sharon) Hightower and Cindy Arnold and Rhonda Marchik; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Alvenia Hightower; a brother, John Hightower; sisters, Catherine Douglas and Mary Lou Hightower; and three baby grandsons.
Marie was devoted to loving and caring for others that extended well beyond her family. She specialized in personal in-home health care for 20 years.
She enjoyed gardening, crafts and music, humming along with everything she did. She loved to square dance, and enjoyed having family get-togethers and a full house at all times.
Marie will be missed and always remembered by many for her warm smile and open arms.
An excerpt from Mom's journal:
"Fly high, sleep tight,
It's not goodbye,
It's just goodnight.
Love, Mom"
