Langel, Ryan M.
Ryan M. LangelRyan M. Langel, 21, of Iowa City and formerly of New Vienna, Iowa died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City from metastatic melanoma.
Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where a parish Scripture service will be held at 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. John O'Connor.
Ryan was born on August 2, 1989, in Dyersville, Iowa, the son of Roger and Elaine (Lansing) Langel. He graduated from Beckman High School with the Class of 2008, and went on to attend Coe College and Iowa State, and was currently in his junior year at the University of Iowa. Ryan was an active sports fan, active in football, soccer and wrestling at Beckman High School and football at Coe College. He loved making new friends wherever he went and was very active in many activities in and out of school, including backstage at plays and musicals. Ryan was a member of Cappa Sigma Fraternity.
Survivors include his parents, Roger and Elaine Langel of New Vienna; a brother, Tyler, and a sister, Staci, both at home; his girlfriend, Kara Wessels of Cedar Falls; maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Rita Lansing of New Vienna; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Marilyn Langel of Luxemburg; aunts and uncles, Randy and LuAnn Lansing of New Vienna, Barb and Steve Hermsen of Bennett, Dave and Becky Lansing of Worthington, Joan and Brad Cunningham of Marion, Larry and Brenda Lansing and Matt and Kim Miller, all of Cedar Rapids, Sharon Langel of Muscatine, Marty and Beth Langel of Luxemburg, Lisa and Alex Hall of Olive Hill, Ken., Patty and Sandy Graham of Minneapolis, Minn. and Rick and Kim Langel of Ankeny; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by an uncle, Dave Langel.
Memorials are preferred.
